2008 Global Survey Background

The Center for CIO leadership is embarking on a multi-year research initiative that will help advance the CIO profession through tools, research, education and outreach. The Center's research is foundational to the process of involving its CIO members to serve as both developers and beneficiaries of this work.

Drawing on a series of interviews and inputs from CIOs and academic leaders, the Center has developed a set of core competencies that we believe are requirements for CIOs looking to grow into and/or sustain leadership roles in their enterprises.

The attached document highlights keys findings from the 2008 survey that polled 270 CIOs from 45 countries and 30 industries.
