Executive Education – Overview

Education is a critical element in supporting the Center's mission to help CIOs improve their strategic competencies and advance their profession.  The Center's executive education program includes content, training, and learning activities in a variety of delivery formats — in-person, webinars, one-to-one, etc. — targeted to address the key competencies and gaps identified in the Center's 2008 research and underpinned by the Center’s competency model.  (To review these findings, download the white paper The CIO Profession: Leaders of Change, Drivers of Innovation.)

The Center develops and delivers its own content, and works closely with academic and learning partners to build and deliver new programs.  Members can access the learning through webinars, podcasts, custom training and in-person executive education programs.  Programs and resources are listed below.

In-Person Information Technology Leadership Program

The Information Technology Leadership Program (ITLP) helps information systems (IS) professionals develop the necessary skills to be successful in their jobs and advance their career opportunities. This includes skills that will complement their technical skills, such as general management, leadership, strategy, interpersonal communication, relationship-building, effective consulting, and the ability to effectively influence managers outside the IT function and within the organization.

Center Executive Education Program: Communicating Business Value

The Center is pleased to announce the launch of our first custom-designed, online education program targeted at one of the key gaps identified by CIO members:  Communicating Business Value, launched. Enrollment is sold out and closed for this session.

This gap underscores the common challenge many members face in being able to understand and translate the value of technology into business results and business outcomes, in language understood and valued by the CEO, the Board and the rest of the C-Suite. The course is geared towards helping the experienced CIO to build on and enhance their strategic impact in their organization and focus on competitive advantage and creating shareholder value.
